I will be one of four panelists at the 2nd Bilbao International Art & Fashion Forum: 1950-2050 | Exploring the Future of the Fashion Industry on May 5, 2015

Taking the inception and subsequent development of haute couture in France as a starting point, the 2nd Bilbao International Art & Fashion Forum will reflect on what led to Paris’ status as an international fashion capital, as well as on the emergence of new cities that have consolidated themselves as unavoidable references in a global fashion industry.

The four panel participants are Miren Arzalluz, Kaat Debo, Jan Miller, and Dr. Valerie Steele.

In conversation with dancer Misty Copeland

In conjunction with the recently opened Dance & Fashion exhibition at The Museum at FIT, I will sit down with dancer Misty Copeland on Tuesday, November 4th at MFIT. Misty is a member of the corps de ballet at the American Ballet Theatre and was recently featured in a New Yorker article.

The Inimitable Halston

I will be giving a lecture at the Des Moines Art Center, October 9, 2014 | 6:30 pm

“The Inimitable Halston” examines Halston’s revolutionary designs from the Ultrasuede shirtdress to the jumpsuit, as well as look at his significant contribution to today’s culture of fashion. The Museum at FIT has a significant repository of Halston garments and is a lender to the exhibition Halston and Warhol: Silver and Suede at the Des Moines Art Center (September 19 – Janaury 18). The lecture is based on an essay featured in the exhibition catalogue.
